x SATIB :: SATIB Trust

The newest edition to the SATIB family, the SATIB Trust. SATIB Insurance Brokers have for the past few years sponsored conservation, community and environmental projects.  A decision by the shareholders sees the registration of a non-profit/charitable organization (NPO) SATIB Trust to enable our company to actively and legally pursue Donor funding from local and international organizations for the benefit of the conservation, environmental and community projects in Africa. SATIB Trust is committed to pursuing and protecting our environment

Heading up this Trust is the founder of SATIB Insurance Brokers, Mr Brian Courtenay. Brian is also the founder and chairman of the Ivory Group (SATIB's holding company) and the newly formed SATIB Trust.

Brian has been an active trustee for Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) for the past 18 years and has recently been appointed a trustee of a UK registered charity called “Elephants for Africa” (EFA) working on, amongst other issues the reintroduction of capture bred elephants back into the wild in the Okavango Delta – Botswana.

He has for the past three years been a volunteer researcher with Oxford University/Wildcru on the Hwange lion project .  During this project he produced a book on collared lions and is developing the non-invasive facial recognition programme on lions for the researchers/university.

All his conservation work is strictly voluntary. Brian holds a diploma in business management and basic Pathology in Wildlife diseases from Onderstepoort – University of Pretoria.  Following much research into transporting animals local and international by road/sea/air he was awarded in 2004 an International Award by Animal Transportation Association America in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the welfare of animals in international commerce.

Now that he is semi-retired he can devote more time to conservation projects so SATIB have registered as a charity/non-profit organization (NPO) the SATIB Trust to allow Brian to actively look to individuals and companies to assist him with raising/funding for our projects.  In SATIB we sponsor a large amount for Hwange lion project and Vic Falls Anti-poaching project to name a few.

Another project he is currently working on is human animal conflict between lions and farmers (livestock predation), which becomes a substantial problem as so many lions are lost through snares, poison and shooting each year.
